Welding stainless steel

A few words about stainless steel:

Stainless steel is a material with characteristic properties. The passive surface layer of oxides formed after the addition of alloying elements prevents the metal from corroding. What stainless steel welding methods should you choose to keep the surface intact and protect against oxidation reactions??

Stainless steel is an iron alloy containing ≥10.5% Cr and ≤1.2% C, characterized by special physicochemical properties. Alloy additives in the form of chromium, nickel and molybdenum allow to obtain a self-regenerating passive layer on the surface of the material, providing corrosion resistance. Individual alloy additives also affect the increase of strength at high temperature.

Stainless steels are divided into 4 basic types with different chemical compositions, depending on the amount of alloying elements used:

  • austenitic steels,

  • ferritic steels,

  • austenitic-ferritic steels (duplex),

  • martensitic steels.

What is TIG welding of stainless steel??

TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding involves generating an electric arc using a non-consumable tungsten electrode in an inert gas shield (carbon dioxide (CO2), argon (Ar), helium (He) or their mixtures). The designation GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) is often encountered (mainly in the USA).

What mistakes can be made when welding stainless steel??

Too high a temperature of stainless steel welding leads to overheating of the material. As a result, problematic deformations appear and oxides are formed, when the oxides evaporate, stainless steel becomes ordinary carbon steel and will rust. On the other hand, too low a temperature causes the weld to cool down faster, and as a result, it cracks more easily and becomes brittle.

Why you should trust us?

  • Years of experience,

  • Specialist knowledge allows us to avoid the most common mistakes,

  • 99% of customers come back,

  • Several hundred completed projects.

We accept orders for serial welding, we also weld single elements that have been damaged.

Thanks to the high-quality TIG welder with the option of pulse welding, we can repair by welding thin elements, we weld materials from 0.5 mm. thicknesses.

By commissioning us to weld stainless steel, you can be 100% sure that the service will be performed properly and that the stainless steel will not lose its properties.
